Governance & Transparency

How the Long Eaton Business Partnership works

The Long Eaton Business Partnership exists to bring businesses, community leaders, and local partners together to support the long-term success of the town.

Our work is grounded in collaboration, transparency, and practical action. We are not a political organisation, and we do not replace the role of local government. Instead, we act as a forum through which businesses and partners can work constructively together to strengthen Long Eaton’s economy and town centre.

The Partnership operates on a voluntary basis, bringing together people who care about the future of Long Eaton and who are willing to contribute their time, experience, and networks to help the town thrive.

Leadership

The Partnership is led by a small Leadership Team made up of local business and community leaders who coordinate activity, support working groups and help ensure the work remains focused and productive.

The Leadership Team currently includes:

Paul Goodman – Co-Chair

Kenny Mann – Co-Chair

Additional members of the Leadership Team support specific areas of work including communications, community engagement, health and wellbeing, and local business collaboration.

Leadership roles are intended to support coordination and accountability, not hierarchy. The Partnership remains open and collaborative in nature.

As a diverse community we appreciate the importance of a mixed leadership team and the impact that a variety of genders can have on achieving our targets.

How decisions are made

The Partnership focuses on practical actions that can improve the experience of living, working, and doing business in Long Eaton.

Where appropriate, ideas and proposals are discussed through working groups or the Leadership Group before being shared more widely with partners, businesses, and the community.

The Partnership does not have statutory powers and does not make formal planning or regulatory decisions. Instead, it works by:

  • bringing people together
  • sharing insight and evidence
  • supporting collaboration
  • advocating for practical improvements where needed

This approach allows the Partnership to complement the work of local authorities, community organisations, and businesses.

Working with partners

Improving a town centre requires collaboration across many organisations.

The Partnership therefore works constructively with:

  • Local businesses and employers
  • Community organisations
  • Erewash Borough Council
  • Local representatives including our Member of Parliament
  • Health and wellbeing partners
  • Educational institutions
  • Investors and regeneration partners

The goal is always to strengthen alignment between organisations that already care about the future of Long Eaton.

Transparency and openness

Transparency is essential to maintaining trust.

The Partnership is committed to:

  • sharing its priorities and work publicly
  • listening to residents and businesses
  • publishing insights and findings where appropriate
  • operating in a constructive and respectful way

The work of the Partnership is intended to support the long-term success of the town and the people who live and work here.
